When dental work calls for more aggressive pain relief, Olympia Pediatric Dentistry offers IV sedation to our patients to allow our pediatric dentist to complete the work and ensure your child has a positive experience. There are several things to be aware of when considering IV sedation with Dr. Andrea Mason. First, we will do everything in our power to make your child safe and comfortable. We will go over any medical conditions with you at the consultation appointment, giving you all the necessary information you need to make an informed decision. Secondly, we will make sure we have everything prepped and ready to go and monitor your child throughout the procedure and after for complete care.

Before your child’s visit, you will be instructed on what things your child needs to avoid the night before, and you may have prescription medication called in for you to pick up when you get home. When your child arrives, he or she will be given a sedative, either through the IV or before, to help calm them. Their heart rate, blood pressure and temperature will be monitored throughout the procedure and after to ensure all is well before going home. Your child will be woozy for the rest of the day, so make sure they rest and take the prescribed medications for a smooth recovery.
